Jan 30 MHHA Request Regarding Turkey Buzzards

MONTPELIER HILLS HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIATION

JANUARY 30, 2013

The community is being seriously impacted by the large number of Turkey Buzzards attracted to food sources in the community. The birds are intimidating, cause damage to homes, tear up trash bags, etc.

To get the birds to leave the community, it is very important that everyone works together to eliminate all food sources.

Please follow these recommendations and refer persons who do not to the management company at dvaughn@dhbader.com:
  1. STOP FEEDING ANIMALS OUTSIDE, IF THERE IS ANY INDICATION THAT THE FOOD SOURCE IS ATTRACTING THE BIRDS.
  1. IF POSSIBLE, DO NOT SET YOUR TRASH OUT UNTIL THE MORNING ON THE DAY OF COLLECTION. THE EARLIEST PERMITTED TIME IS THE EVENING BEFORE THE COLLECTION DAY.
  1. USE CANS WITH TIGHT FITTING LIDS TO STORE YOUR TRASH. IF POSSIBLE, SET THE TRASH OUT FOR COLLECTION IN CANS WITH THE TIGHT FITTING LIDS, BUT REMEMBER TO RETRIEVE THE CANS BY THE END OF THE DAY.
  1. DO NOT SET TRASH OUT IN FLIMSY TRASH BAGS, INCLUDING THE STANDARD WHITE KITCHEN BAGS. USE ONLY HEAVY DUTY BAGS.
The trash collection points can be a particular problem spot.
Trash bags are sometimes set out at these locations early on
Saturday or Sunday. This is unacceptable and is
contributing to the problem.

We appreciate your cooperation!
